Launch your own Journey

Launch your own Journey

The Paper Boat community is far broader than just the trustees and staff of the charity.

We need you too to inspire and enable children to change their world.

Fundraising

We are beholden to the wonderful efforts of those who bring so much more than they themselves could give through fundraising efforts of their own.

As always, be creative, playful and have fun!

Advocacy

Here at Paper Boat we seek to amplify the quietest voices.
You can play an essential role in sharing the children’s stories, ideas and passions.

With six degrees of separation you may be the person who starts the chain to reach a policy maker, or a billionaire. One day your voice may even carry that story back to the young person who first told it. Imagine what that must mean to a young person from a ‘silenced’ community, to know that their voice is out there, that people have heard it, that they care.

Spread the Word

You can spread the word in many ways, from sharing social media posts and Waypoint emails to arranging for a gallery to host an exhibition of photos taken by the children.

Former BBC World Service journalist Gareth Jones joined Paper Boat on a visit to Tamil Nadu, India in 2019. As part of the trip Gareth shot a short film giving a lovely insight into our Children’s Hubs – creative learning spaces that enable young people at the margins to connect, play, create and imagine.

We invite you to think about how your platform in the world can inspire others.

Student Societies

Tomorrow’s challenges cannot be solved by yesterday’s solutions.
Our staff started out their journeys as fierce student campaigners, and know firsthand how passionate, original and effective student societies and campaigning groups can be.

Our hubs are all about celebrating innovative, creative and imaginative approaches, and we want students in the UK and beyond to be part of that story.

The world is changing rapidly and modern ideas from modern people are needed in turbulent and challenging circumstances. All of the partners and project we work with started out with a small group of young people determined to make a difference in their world.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

Academic Opportunities

We believe strongly in being a learning organisation.
Evidence, iteration and adaptation are all essential to guide our collaborative work with partners as together we respond to the need for systemic change in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world.
We welcome students and academic professionals to get in touch with proposals for collaboration or to explore becoming part of our strategic education community and play a role in shaping thought leadership publications.

Potential research opportunities include:

  • Bridging leadership
  • Grassroots movements for systemic change
  • Leaders of the future
  • Methods of evaluation concerned with long term change
  • Children changing communities from within
  • Alternative education theories

Volunteer Vacancies

We are not currently seeking volunteers to fill any particular roles.  However, if you have an idea that you want to bring to us, or believe that your own values, skills and experience would propel us further, then we would be delighted to discuss that with you.
