Michael and Mari have known each other since they were 11 years old. They did painting and theatre here at the project.  They have been in this village since they were very small. They are like brothers. Now they work together to manage and co-ordinate the Children’s Hubs - and help set the next generation free from poverty. "It’s not a job - it’s more like family. This is not just our workplace, it is our home." The villages Paper Boat's local partner work in are remote. Those children do not have immediate access to any amenities. They don’t just give them an education, but creative education, which gives children agency and helps them go further. Mari's family was very poor. His mother started working for this program funded by paper boat, and that is the moment their life changed. His mother became a leader through the programme. Sadly she died during COVID, but she taught and trained Michael and Mari, and 30 other leaders across Tamil Nadu. "We are very grateful, she encouraged and moulded, and developed us." ​ Now Michael and Mari are continuing her legacy, and developing young leaders who can reach their potential. Every gift is powerful, and increases the impact of this project to help break the chains of generational poverty.
